Pure cocopeat works well on its own, but for best results, mix it with other materials:
- For potted plants: 60% cocopeat + 30% compost + 10% perlite
- For vegetables: 50% cocopeat + 30% compost + 20% garden soil
- For seed starting: 70% cocopeat + 30% perlite (keeps it light and airy)
Step 3: Planting
Fill your pots or garden beds with the cocopeat mix. Water thoroughly until the medium is evenly moist. Plant your seeds or seedlings as you normally would. Cocopeat's excellent water retention means you'll water less frequently than with regular soil.

Cocopeat holds moisture well, so check before watering — stick your finger 2cm into the medium. If it feels moist, wait another day. Overwatering is the most common mistake with cocopeat. In Malaysia's humid climate, potted plants in cocopeat may only need watering every 2-3 days.
